Grazie Prof. Raisman! R.I.P.

Cure Girls at NSIFOggi è un giorno molto triste per le Cure Girls e per tutte le persone che vivono con una paralisi causata da lesione al midollo spinale. Abbiamo saputo infatti, che il Prof. Geoffrey Raisman è scomparso lo scorso Venerdì 27 gennaio 2017. (Leggi comunicato stampa UCL)

Ho incontrato il Prof. Raisman insieme ad altre Cure Girls esattamente 2 anni fa, il 27 gennaio 2015, come riportato qui.

Il Prof. Raisman ha dedicato tutta la sua carriera alla ricerca per trovare una cura per le lesioni spinali ed è stato abbastanza folle da credere che una cura fosse possibile quando sembrava davvero impossibile curare la paralisi. Solo per questo merita la nostra eterna stima  e gratitudine. Sono sicura che il Suo nome avrà un posto nei libri di storia della ricerca medica!

Il Prof. Raisman era uno scienziato di fama mondiale e abbiamo perso una grande fonte d’ispirazione. Il suo straordinario lavoro ed il team che ha formato presso l’University College di Londra (UCL), ora saranno portati avanti dal professor Ying Li e dal dottor Daqing Li.

Esprimiamo le più sincere condoglianze alla moglie e alla sua famiglia.

Grazie prof. Raisman, riposa in pace.

Our thoughts are with his wife and family at this time.

I have met prof. Raisman together with other Cure Girls in January 2015 as reported here. 

Prof. Raisman has dedicated his whole research career to find a cure for SCI. He was crazy enough to believe a cure was possible when it really seemed impossible to cure paralysis. Just for that he should be remembered as a hero and deserve our eternal gratitude.

I am sure his name will have a place in history books of medical research.

Prof. Raisman was a world class scientist and we have lost a great inspiration, his tremendous work and the team that he has developed at University College London (UCL) now led by Professor Ying Li and Dr Daqing Li will ensure his legacy remains.

His discoveries will not be lost as his team will continue his brilliant work.

Thank you prof. Raisman, Rest In Peace.
