I am also vice president of “Marina Romoli Onlus”, (web site is just in italian) an italian association that raises money for research to find a cure for chronic SCI.

Marina was a promising cyclist. She was hit by a car while training in June 2010 and has bee
n confined to a wheelchair ever since; she is determined to return to cycling.
She founded the Marina Romoli Onlus (non-profit organization) http://www.marinaromolionlus.org/2013/ to support Chronic Spinal Cord Injury Cure Research.

It was in may 2008 when she fell off a swing that simulates surf in the air. In a few seconds Sabrina became totally paralysed from the shoulders down. She works, has physiotherapy, travels, but she needs somebody by her side 24/7. It’s unworthy and only she can feel this pain. Sabrina has a dream: a CURE for spinal cord injury.

@Jenzy25…what exactly is the animal and injury model in your current lab experiments? Are the animals actually paralyzed for at least 90 days? Have any of the experiments been replicated so the therapy can actually be considered translational? The only SCI work I’m aware of at CU is acute and only basic science level studies. How do you define translational for clinical trial?
